GreenGlass tile backer is as tough as it is green. GreenGlass delivers powerful moisture and mold protection plus an impressive level of recycled content that can give you a serious advantage towards environmental certification without sacrificing performance.
Superior Mold and Moisture Resistance
In addition to the natural mold resistance of its glass mat facers, GreenGlass tile backer features an acrylic coating to block moisture at the surface as well as the TemShield Mold Protection System engineered into its enhanced gypsum core. GreenGlass scored a 10, the highest score possible, when tested in accordance with ASTM D3273, the industry standard test for mold resistance.
High Green Building System Value
Manufactured with an SCS-certified recycled gypsum content of at least 90%, GreenGlass can contribute significant credits towards a project’s green rating system certification. See potential contributions categories in popular Green Building Standards.
Code-Compliant Substrate
GreenGlass is IRC and IBC compliant to the referenced standards for a fiberglass mat water-resistant gypsum substrate for use as a tile backer. It has also passed ceramic tile bonding strength testing to verify compliance with the Uniform Building Code. Review additional compliance information.
Low VOC Emissions
Certified to meet the performance standard established for low VOC-emitting materials under the CHPS program, GreenGlass has also been shown to be free of sulfur emissions which has resulted in odor and pipe corrosion in some regions of the country. Learn more about GreenGlass emissions testing.
Added Fire Resistance
Because it’s a gypsum board product, GreenGlass tile backer is naturally noncombustible. It’s also available with a Type X core formula for added protection and U.L.-approved use in multiple fire-rated assemblies. For more information about U.L.-approved fire-resistant assemblies, click here.
Limited Warranties
Temple-Inland offers a 20-year limited warranty on GreenGlass fiberglass-faced tile backer for commercial applications and limited lifetime warranty on residential applications. Both commercial and residential limited warranties are subject to terms, conditions and exclusions.
