Gypsum Shaftliner

Combining fire resistance, sound abatement and ease of application, Temple-Inland’s SilentGuard Shaftliner is an attractive alternative to traditional masonry construction for elevator shafts, stairwells, air and mechanical shafts, grease ducts, as well as area separation walls. It is designed for installation from the perimeter of the shaft, eliminating the cost and labor of scaffolding construction.

SilentGuard gypsum shaftliner has been fire-resistance classified by Underwriters Laboratories, and has been approved for use in multiple fire-resistant assemblies. Below is a list of those systems.

Wall and Partition Assemblies:

U375, U428, U429, U469, V433, V493

BIM Objects:

We are developing a library of system assemblies incorporating Temple-Inland gypsum board for use in the BIM-based design program Revit. Currently this library includes the following assemblies: U301, U305, U354, U375, U411, U425, U428, U429, V433, U465, G505, G514, L502, L574. (Some with multiple variations.)

Area Separation Wall Drawing Details:

Details regarding the typical construction of an area separation wall are available to show its intersection with a foundation, exterior wall, intermediate floor and roof. PDF files featuring several specific product solutions are linked on the page listed below.
