Temple-Inland southern pine lumber is a natural solid wood building material manufactured in boards of various thicknesses, widths and grades.
Denser than most species, southern pine ranks in many strength properties as the strongest of the softwoods and is ideal for engineered systems as well as conventional framing applications. It cuts cleanly, holds fasteners tight and can take a great deal of punishment without showing ill effects from wear-and-tear, even in high-traffic areas.
Used as an interior finishing material, the distinctive grain pattern of Temple-Inland southern pine lends a classic warmth and charm to trim, paneling and a variety of architectural accents. It also makes a beautiful deck where its unique cell structure allows deep, uniform penetration of wood preservatives and stains.
For over 100 years, Temple-Inland has been providing quality southern pine lumber with a combination of experience, expertise and advanced technology. Every log brought into our mills is "read" by computer scanner to determine its ideal cutting profile for maximum productivity. Next, the wood is dried using a computer-controlled kiln to achieve the correct moisture content. Following this drying and conditioning process, the final product is graded to meet SPIB (Southern Pine Inspection Bureau) and TP (Timber Products Inspection) standards, as well as one even higher - ours.
