DIBOLL, Texas -- For more than 100 years, Temple-Inland has been manufacturing lumber to meet a broad array of construction needs. Now, as 2004 continues on the heels of 2003’s record-setting housing and building markets, Temple-Inland is furthering its goal of supplying top-quality materials with an addition to its southern pine lumber product line.
“We are proud to announce the addition of a premium ‘Select Structural’ grade to our family of lumber products,” said Pat Patranella, vice president, solid wood products. “Targeted primarily at truss and component manufacturers, this new offering delivers the strength and performance characteristics they need for the most demanding applications.”
The building components market has seen an incredible surge in business as builders look for more efficient “systems” to help speed construction and offset the shortage of skilled labor.
“The desire for more cost-effective construction has led more and more builders to seek prefabricated wall systems and trusses that can be delivered to the jobsite ready to go. Select Structural is designed specifically to be used in manufacturing these important components,” says Mike Warren, solid wood product manager.
Temple-Inland’s Select Structural lumber is made from dense southern pine logs and is available in a 2" x 4" dimension and lengths up to 20'. This product is visually selected according to strict Southern Pine Inspection Bureau grading rules.
“Straight and strong, Select Structural lumber machines cleanly and holds fasteners tight, making it the ideal material for engineering load-bearing trusses and wall components,” says Warren.
Select structural lumber can be purchased at the same time and delivered in mixed loads with other dimension lumber grades, giving manufacturers and dealers the ability to manage their inventory for maximum value and material efficiency.
