DIBOLL, TX -- Temple-Inland has introduced a new and improved Type TG-C formula for its fire-rated gypsum wallboard. While offering the same finishing and performance properties as their full line of wallboard products, Temple-Inland's new premium TG-C wallboard is Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) approved for almost twice as many applications.
Specifically, this new formula meets or exceeds American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) C1396 and Federal Specification SS-L-30d, Type III Grade X standards. This is the same standard applied to previous Temple-Inland Type-C wallboard products, but the passing of additional UL testing means it’s now approved for use in almost 200 additional fire-resistive assemblies and systems.
Temple-Inland’s new TG-C formula will soon be available throughout their distribution network, taking the place of their existing Type-C and Type-T formulas as inventory is sold. Manufactured in 1/2” and 5/8” thicknesses, a 4’ width and lengths from 8’ to 14’, this product also features traditional tapered edges. A 54” width and several specialty product formulations are available by special order with established minimums and agreed-upon lead times.
According to Gypsum Products Vice President Stephen Raley, this product supports Temple-Inland’s increasing customer focus. “The enhancement and re-introduction of our TG-C formula is another example of the commitment Temple-Inland is making to manufacture building products that also build the productivity of architects, contractors and installers involved in commercial and residential construction. It’s part of a series of new products we have introduced since 2000 to significantly expand our gypsum wallboard product line,” said Raley.
“Development continues on our fire-rated board and more assembly approvals are expected in the near future. But during the meantime, we’ve almost doubled the number of assemblies in which we are approved so our gypsum products can be specified with increasing confidence in larger, more demanding projects,” added Raley.
