EnduraSiding Panel Installation

Installation

EnduraSiding panels should not be fastened to green or crooked structural framing members. Siding should not be installed over rain-soaked or buckled sheathing materials.

Nailing

Follow panel fastening table recommendations regarding nail types, sizes and spacing.
DO NOT USE STAPLES. SEE NAILING GUIDELINES

Square Edge Panel Siding

EnduraSiding ungrooved smooth and textured panels may be applied to sheathed or unsheathed walls with studs spaced up to 24" o.c. All panel edges must be supported by and fastened to framing members. Locate nails at least 3/8" in from the panel edges. Do not exceed the maximum nail spacing.

Leave a 1/16" to 1/8" gap between panels. Caulk the joints and cover with narrow batten strips.

A 1/8" to 3/16" gap should be allowed around all window and door openings and where panels meet trim.

Shiplap-Edge Panel Siding

Shiplap edge panel siding may be applied to sheathed or unsheathed walls with studs spaced no more than 24" o.c. The nailing should start at the joint side of the panel and progress over to the opposite edge to avoid wedging or preloading the shiplap joint.

The special shiplap joint is designed to provide a weather seal (caulking optional) and provide the maximum structural strength when properly fastened. Nail through both panels as indicated.

Take care to maintain the nail spacing indicated in the fastening table. SEE NAILING GUIDELINES

When panels are installed as wall bracing, fasten both sides of the joint and space nails as indicated.

Panels fastened directly to studs as structural wall bracing must be nailed 4" o.c. on edges and 8" o.c. on intermediate studs.

When installing stacked panels one above the other as on a two-story wall, leave a 1/4" space between the lower and upper panel to avoid preloading the butt joint. All horizontal butt joints should be backed with supporting framing, flashed and caulked as shown.
